Alyssa Campanella, a 21-year-old auburn-haired California girl, won the Miss USA crown on Sunday night.

Campanella, who is from Los Angeles, topped a field of 51 beauty queens to take the title at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. She will represent the nation in this year’s Miss Universe pageant in September in Brazil.

Campanella won after strutting across the stage in a blue bikini with white polka dots and a dark turquoise evening gown with beading on its top.

She also answered a question about legalizing marijuana by saying she didn’t think it should be fully legalized as a solution to help ailing economies.

“Well, I understand why that question would be asked, especially with today’s economy, but I also understand that medical marijuana is very important to help those who need it medically,” she said. “I’m not sure if it should be legalized, if it would really affect, with the drug war. I mean, it’s abused today, unfortunately, so that’s the only reason why I would kind of be a little bit against it, but medically it’s OK.”

Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham was the first runner-up. Contestants from Alabama and Texas placed third and fourth.

Campanella replaces Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih. The Michigan woman teared up as she walked across the stage for a final goodbye.

24 year old Luo Zilin (also known as Roseline Luo Zilin) is the Miss Universe China 2011 Title Holder from Shanghai, China. She was crowned in the presence of Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori (of Japan). She is nearly 6 foot and pursuing career as a professional model in China.

She represented China in the Miss Universe 2011 contest held on 12th September, 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was placed in top 5 contestants and eventually finished as 4th Runner-up.

In the final round of the Miss Universe 2011, each of the remaining top five contestants was asked a question. Isabeli Fontana asked Luo Zilin: “Nude beaches are common in some parts of the world. Is public nudity appropriate or inappropriate and why?”.

Speaking through an interpreter, Luo answered, “Every country has its rules and regulations and every country has their own habits as well. We should respect them and be more understanding.”

Carmen’s parents were Italian and Hungarian. They were constantly breaking up and getting back together. Because of this, Carmen lived in foster homes and sometimes with other relatives.

In 1942, Carmen reunited with her mother and moved to New York City. At the age of 13, while riding a bus to ballet class, she was approached to model by the wife of photographer Herman Landschoff. Her test photos, taken at Jones Beach, were a “flop” according to Carmen. Her godfather though introduced her to Vogue, where Carmen signed a contract for $7.50 per hour in 1946 at age 15. She appears in the December 15, 1946 issue of VOGUE as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Cinderella along with supermodel Dorian Leigh, actors Ray Bolger and Jose Ferrer.

Despite modeling, Carmen and her mother were poor. They had no telephone and Vogue sent runners to their apartment to let Carmen know about modeling jobs. She roller-skated to assignments to save bus fare. Carmen was so malnourished that famed fashion photographers Horst P. Horst and Cecil Beaton had to pin back dresses and stuff her body with tissue. Carmen and her mother were also accomplished seamtresses and made extra money making clothes. One of their customers was Dorian Leigh. Carmen would later become best friends with Dorian’s younger sister, model Suzy Parker. Together they would be bridesmaids at Dorian’s second wedding to Roger Mehle in 1948.

In 1947, Carmen got a raise to $10–$25 per hour. She appeared on the October 1947 cover of Vogue, at age 15, one of the youngest Vogue cover models ever (along with Niki Taylor, Brooke Shields, and Monika Schnarre). Carmen was also on the November 1948 cover of Vogue. She worked with the most famous fashion photographers of the era including Irving Penn, Francesco Scavullo, Norman Parkinson, and Richard Avedon. She also became Salvador Dali’s muse.

Despite early successes at a very young age, modeling agent Eileen Ford refused to represent her and Vogue lost interest in her. After doctors prescribed shots to start puberty, she instead started working for catalogs and lingerie, making $300 per hour. It was then that she joined Ford in 1953.

Daisha Graf  http://www.mbkentertainment.com

In the spring of 2008, Daisha Graf— then 20 years old and unknown, started a back-up dance career that’s spanned some of the largest urban hip-hop and R&B tours in recent memory— Rihanna, Diddy, Ryan Leslie, Letoya Lucket, Jill Scott and Beyonce to name a few. Even before graduating with a BA in Dance from Hofstra University, Daisha earned notice as a talented member with the Imani Dance Ensemble and NYC based Rhapsody The Company.

However, after reaching the top of the working commercial dance world, her passion and vision to express herself as a performing artist hadn’t quite satisfied her own self-fulfillment.

“Even before being on the road for so long, I envisioned an original live experience more theatrical and expressive than dance alone could reveal about me,” says Daisha, spoken with a warm smile and a truly endearing attitude. Her artistic presence is noticeable, and likable. Its almost if an aura surounds her that all at once says- ‘earth mother’ meets ‘Beyonce,’ but its not until one samples her music that the word ‘Tron’ is added to her club-like soundscapes. “I began to have intense dreams about a body of material that reflected me. It included my own electric sound, vibe, and style. I knew if I really went for it, I’d risk all the hard work I’d built so far, including my reputation as a professional dancer.” Daisha continued, “I really hope I can shed light to those who also dream about creating anyway that frees the spirit.”

Now working vigorously in the studio with some of New York’s youngest and brightest hip-hop, pop, and dance producers, Daisha, has undergone her own self-aware transformation. Free from the bonds of her perceived one-sided career, she’s elevated her artistic endeavors from only interpreting body movement from sound, to creating the sound and lyrics that also augments her dance style unilaterally, or as Daisha says “Creating new choreography to my own music is the best!”

Less you think this is the story of just another professional dancer wanting to be a pop-star, Daisha was trained as a classical pianist since the age of 5 and also participated in choirs throughout high school and college. “Music had always been an important part of my life, but dance became the perfect medium for exposing me to the professional music industry.”

Soon enough, Daisha landed a coveted spot on Rihanna’s European tour- “A Girl Like Me”. When she returned, she signed with the agency Clear Talent Group and continued performing all over the world with the renowned artists mentioned above. Additionally through her agency, Daisha landed roles on feature films such as, Step Up 2, Step up 3D, and When in Rome.

It was around this time that veteran music manager Jeff Robinson, CEO of MBK Entertainment, discovered Ms. Graf’s versatility, bold vision and her ability to turn heads with action. After extending an artist management and production contract, Daisha can now be found comfortably at home with an incredible MBK roster of artists where artistry, hard work and musical talent are heralded above all else.

Evening by Sherri Hill @ Trump Towers Sept14th

Sherri Hill Dresses combines modern needs with elegant design features. Stand-out silhouettes has made Sherri Hill a top Dress Designer in the industry. Utilizing the hottest trends and looks for the ultimate urban woman Sherri Hill’s dress are stylish, beautiful and practical all in one….

Sherri Hill’s high-impact dresses feature bold prints, stunning colors, and eye-popping combination which make her dresses unlike anything else out there.

COLORS, PATTERNS AND STYLES

From wild animal prints to deep reds, purples and greens, and lace or applique finishings, Sherri Hill’s creations demand the attention of anyone treated to a glimpse of their wearers. Not for the faint of heart, Sherri Hill dresses smash bold prints against feminine netting and bows, and feature products for the woman who is as comfortable in swirling, night sky inspired cocktail dresses as she is sweeping feathers and fringes.

Sherri Hill’s styles are varied enough that a woman could stock her entire closet with creations from this designer, and look like she’d walked in from a different world each time she entered the room. From Vivienne Westwood-esque tartans to sweeping black strapless evening gowns to sophisticated cocktail dresses, Sherri Hill keeps coming up with new and different ways to glam up any event.

HIGH CUT AND LOW TRAINS

With hems that sit anywhere from the ankle to above the knee, these dresses scream sophistication, but there are plenty of designs which are playful enough to suit younger women as well as those with a bit more maturity. With tasteful cuts around the bodice, a variety of strapped and strapless tops, and hems on some cocktail dresses reaching impressive heights that show off long legs, there are as many possibilities for the woman who’s just out to have some fun as there are for someone of a more serious mindset on a more formal occasion.

Despite this, it’s in her creative cocktail ensembles that Sherri Hill really shines. The fanciful outfits, dazzling with sparkles, fringes, spiderwebs and glittering swirls – not to mention avant-garde asymmetrical cocktail dresses – challenge expectations for formal wear and prod those confident enough to wear them into making a statement with their appearance. Not for the shy wallflower, Sherri Hill dresses are bold and bright, and any woman who wears them should make sure she has the personality to wear the dress – rather than letting the dress wear her. These are dresses to wear when you want to cast off a shy lack of confidence and rock your charm and beauty (both inner and outer!) to your best advantage.

Sizes for Sherri Hill dresses run from 0 to 18, and she has constructed fashions that will fit all those body types. Whether looking for Hollywood Glamour or Art Deco elegance, there are charming dresses in this season’s Sherri Hill collection just waiting for the curvier lady or someone whose body hasn’t quite yet filled out.

CRANK UP THE VOLUME

Billowing skirts, sleek fabrics, and fun and funky plunging neckline prints make Sherri Hill dresses perfect for occasions where the point is to see and be seen. These dresses have all the drama one would expect to find on a cool New York night at a hot, heady party. At home beside a glass of champagne and in stilettos, any woman in a Sherri Hill dress will ooze sophisticated confidence, and artsier types will find the muse may have an easier time discovering them as they sashay through crowded ballrooms and hallways in one of this season’s Sherri Hill dresses.

Sherri Hill dresses are sure to cause a sensation, and are perfect for high-profile occasions where the last thing one wants to do is blend into the crowd. For balls and charity fundraisers, they can be easily matched to themes that suit each piece – for a benefit to raise money for animal-based charities, the animal prints are too perfect for words, while gala ball gowns for artists and high society balls use the romance of each era to make the dresses’ wearers stand out while fitting in.

ACCESSORIZING YOUR SHERRI HILL DRESS

Sherri Hill’s shorter dresses call for striking, bold accessories – shoes that shout the colors picked up from the piece as a whole, bangles and clutches that pull the outfit together into a coherent whole. Leave the patterns and flourishes in the hands of this all too capable designer, and simply let Sherri Hill’s sophisticated silhouette transport you to a place where you can use the dress to become the bold, sensitive, and powerful woman you’ve always wanted to express yourself as.

INVESTMENT PIECES

With price tags at the high end of www.newyorkdress.com’s range, Sherri Hill dresses are gorgeous works of art that should be considered as such, especially in the case of some of the breathtaking evening gown silhouettes the designer has created. The Egyptian Inspired Halter Jewel and Impressive Strapless Spectacular Hourglass dresses do justice to their names, and would be as at home on the Nile or at a Golden Age of Hollywood awards ceremony as at a black tie dinner. Elegant lace concoctions and backless dresses heighten the sense of glamor and style in each of Sherri Hill’s creations.

Sherri Hill dresses can be worn by any woman with confidence and determination, and the bold patterns, colors, cuts and fabrics should leave no doubt as to the effectiveness of these dresses in captivating the gaze of those around their wearers. Sherri Hill dresses are suitable for a number of occasions, from proms and college clubbing to extravagant gala dinners, and enable a wide variety of accessory options. These dresses’ statuses as artistic wonders more than justifies the expense of each extraordinary piece.
